I forgot to make my estimated income tax payment on time. Should I
send it in late, or double up on the next payment?

You should make your estimated payment as soon as possible. Penalties are assessed when estimates are not paid by the due dates. If you wait to double up on your next quarter’s payment, your penalty will be much larger than if you just pay it a few days late.

How long should I keep my tax returns?
Tax returns and supporting documentation should be kept a minimum of 7 years. The IRS is allowed to look at the prior three years in the event of an audit, and in some cases can go back an additional three years. Keep cancelled checks and supporting records for at least 7 years as well. (Hint: If space is not an issue, why not keep all prior tax returns?

Having these records on hand may make things easier for you in the event you ever need to obtain information about a closed tax year - The recent State tax-deduction for IRA contributions made in 1982, 1983, and 1984, for example).

What does the Unicorn signify?
The Unicorn has been around for thousands of years, in stories, songs, and folk tales. Different cultures have created different images of this magical creature but most all agree that the Unicorn has a single horn in the middle of its forehead.

We incorporated the Unicorn as our brand mark over 20 years ago, for its representation of strength and imaginiation. Through updates and a new look over the years, it remains a constant focus. The Unicorn represents our commitment to incorporating thought and imagination in everything we do, and thinking outside of the box to find solutions. Some say the Unicorn no longer exists and others believe it can be discovered only by those with outstanding virtue and honesty. Naturally, we like to believe we fall into the latter category.
